Starting a Core Vocabulary Initiative & Tips for getting district-wide buy-in

Description:

Core vocabulary is critical for increasing language and communication for our students with complex communication needs. Students must be exposed to using core vocabulary both visually and verbally throughout their day. This universal core approach will teach others how to make sure they accomplish this.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. The participant will be able to begin a core vocabulary initiative at their institution, or enhance the one they have in place.

  2. The participant will be able to identify the steps it takes to start using core vocabulary visually and verbally with students.

  3. The participant will be able to identify the people to get on board to roll out a successful core vocabulary initiative.

  4. Participant will learn a variety of creative ways to fit in professional development for staff, students and parents.

     

CEUs

This activity is offered for up to 0.2 CEUs (1.5 hours of instruction). To register for CEUs:
