Core Vocabulary Overview and Tips for Starting Your Own Core Initiative

All people need and use core vocabulary to communicate, core vocabulary is crucial for language and literacy development. Core Vocabulary aligns with classroom curriculum and common core standards. AAC systems with robust core vocabulary must be provided to all students at risk for developing useful speech.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Participants will be able to explain what core vocabulary is to others.
  2. As a result of attendance, participants will understand the benefits to using core vocabulary words and devices with students with complex communication needs.
  3. Participants will be able to start up their own initiative, and/or expand on their current universal core approach.

CEUs

This activity is offered for up to 0.2 CEUs (1.5 hours of instruction). To register for CEUs:
