Date/Location:

November 20, 2025, Warwick, RI

Description:

Professionals working in the field of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and assistive technology (AT) require ongoing, high-quality training to ensure ethical, effective, and evidence-based service delivery. The following needs have been identified:

Staying Current with Evidence-Based Practices and Emerging Technologies
Continuous education is essential for professionals to remain informed about the evolving evidence base and advancements in AAC and AT tools. This ensures that interventions are grounded in research and reflect the latest innovations in technology that support individuals with complex communication needs.

Enhancing Assessment Competencies for Improved Outcomes
Targeted training supports the development of advanced knowledge and skills in conducting AAC and AT assessments. High-quality assessments are critical to identifying appropriate communication solutions and optimizing functional outcomes for individuals with disabilities across diverse settings.

Fostering Collaborative Learning and Practical Application
Professionals benefit from structured opportunities to explore, apply, and reflect on AAC and AT strategies, tools, and solutions. Collaborative learning environments promote peer exchange, problem-solving, and the integration of best practices into real-world contexts.
