The focus of this 4 hour course it to have an understanding of the basics of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) in a clinical practice setting.

Learning Outcomes:
Identify 3 pediatric and 3 adult disorders that are considered communication disorders that result in recommending AAC intervention.
Identify factors within the 5 components of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) framework that influence AAC clinical decision-making.
Compare and contrast features within the primary, secondary and tertiary components of AAC technology in order to match AAC technology and intervention with an individual.
Choose 3 of the 10 AAC Rules of Commitment that are the most meaningful to your role as an SLP on an inter-professional practice team.
