Ongoing Assessment: A Guide to Intervention Planning
Date/Location:
September 30, 2020
Description:
This webinar explores the benefits of using ongoing AAC assessment as a means for guiding intervention that results in the development of communicative competence. It will define and discuss specific areas and skills that determine communicative competence. Although many tools for ongoing assessment are available, this webinar will explore The AAC Profile: A Continuum of Learning, that assists in evaluating current skill development and suggests treatment goals that impact additional skill acquisition needed for AAC system use and progress toward full potential functioning. This webinar will be focused on children; however, information can also be used in addressing adult AAC use and development of communicative competence.
Speakers:
Tracy M. Kovach, PhD, CCC-SLP
Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this training, participants will be able to:
Discuss the development of an assessment “profile” that is used to create and update intervention plans for individuals with complex communication needs.
Identify factors and skill development that indicate how an individual who uses AAC may continue increasing their language complexity despite receiving less therapy intervention.
Describe factors that aid in decision-making for choosing low tech vs. high tech AAC systems.
