Making Power Wheelchair Smarter

Description:

This session will present the emerging area of power mobility known as Smart Wheelchair Technologies. We will begin by identifying the need for Smart Wheelchairs, particularly to avoid collisions and tipping. We will next turn to the definitions, terminology, and classification of this spectrum of interventions in the context of assistive technology. Clinical indicators for use of Smart Wheelchairs will then be addressed. Finally, we will review the currently available products and features. Discussion is encouraged!
