Every October, we recognize and celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). This year, we are excited to host a panel discussion with three individuals with disabilities who are utilizing workplace accommodations! This panel discussion will celebrate NDEAM by highlighting the experiences, perspectives, and advice of employees with physical disabilities. Panelists will reflect upon how workplaces can support and empower employees. They will share lessons from their professional journeys and provide strategies for promoting inclusion and recognizing diverse talents.

Learning Outcomes:

Name three facts about NDEAM and its cultural and historical importance.

Identify three types of workplace accommodations that employees with disabilities have found beneficial in their careers.

Identify three practical strategies employers can use to better support and retain employees with disabilities.

Describe one example of how an accommodation or policy can improve outcomes for both employees with disabilities and their teams.

Summarize two strategies employees with disabilities have successfully used to self-advocate in performance reviews, promotions, or accommodations.

Name two ways employees with disabilities contribute unique perspectives to their workplaces.
