Executive Functioning – Gone Digital

Date/Location:

January 12, 2021

Description:

As most schools are moving toward some form of e-learning or blended learning this coming semester, it is more important than ever that educators understand the role that executive functioning plays in students’ success or struggles in school. Digital learning becomes more important than ever in this current climate and educators need a solid understanding of how executive functioning can be supported in a digital environment. Supports that are readily available in a classroom and direct taught in that environment often are not in a digital environment, making it necessary to begin to look at how we teach things such as file naming (putting your name on your paper) and cleaning our digital files (cleaning out our desk).

Speakers:

Cassie Frost, M.S.Ed

Learning Outcomes:

Participants will be able to identify at least 3 tools to support students with organization in a digital environment.

Participants will be able to identify 3 ways that digital learning requires different executive functioning skills than face to face learning.

Participants will be able to identify at least 3 tools to support students with memory while learning in a digital environment.
