CDC Accessible Materials Project Training – Communicating with People who are Blind or have Vision-Related

This session is designed to increase awareness about people who are blind or have other vision-related disabilities. Presenters will emphasize understanding modes of communication and translation options, especially in emergency response and public health, for people who are blind, have low vision, or have other vision-related disabilities. In order to achieve health equity, it is necessary to increase accessibility of health communications materials for people with disabilities.

Learning Outcomes:
List four (4) specific ways to increase access to various modes of communication for people who are blind or have vision-related disabilities based on principles of universal design for learning, Section 508, WCAG 2.0/2.1, and assistive technology.
Identify four (4) strategies and solutions for implementing assistive technology, braille, alternative text, contrast, and audio description into a variety of communications.
Identify and access two (2) resources for producing graphics and videos that can be fully accessed by people who are blind or have vision-related disabilities.
