Assessing for Depression and Anxiety in the ALS Clinic
Date/Location:
January 4 – February 15, 2021
Description:
As healthcare providers working with patients with a devastating terminal disease, we are witness to our patients changes in mood throughout the time we care for them. A depression and anxiety rating scale is a useful and simple assessment to implement in any ALS Clinic. A clinician will obtain a patient’s baseline anxiety and depression scale rating during their initial appointment and track any changes in their depression and anxiety over time within the clinical setting. The implementation of the depression and anxiety scale will empower all clinicians to confidently discuss and address the mental health needs of the patient while more importantly providing the opportunity for patients to thoroughly share how they are coping and managing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Speakers:
Kim Harber, MSW
Learning Outcomes:
Know how to use the depression & anxiety rating scale
