AAC Solutions for the Workplace

Learn about the Assistive Software Knowledgebase, a new resource that the Center for Inclusive Design & Innovation (CIDI) is developing to help people make informed choices about selecting, acquiring and using specialized computer software in the workplace! This webinar will review several text-based augmentative communication apps which can be utilized by individuals with temporary or long-term communication difficulties in the workplace environment. Features of each app will be reviewed, including platform, speech output, language organization strategies, visual layout and accessibility.

Learning Outcomes:

Participants will identify three (3) text-based augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) apps that can be used in a workplace setting.

Participants will identify three (3) built-in features contained in AAC apps.

Participants will identify two (2) or three (3) built-in organization strategies that can be used to speed up communication in the workplace.

Participants will identify one (1) or two (2) AAC apps with built-in accessibility features.
