AAC Intervention: An Overview of Dedicated Speech Generating Devices, Touch Sensitivity Settings and Vocabulary Sets

This 120-minute course is intended to be a demonstration and discussion of a variety of AAC devices and access methods.  The session involves a demonstration and discussion of the software and hardware features of several devices including the Nova Chat 5, 8, 10, and 12 Dedicated Plus; the Wego 5A-D, 7A-D, 10A-D, and 13A-D; the WegoWrite-D; and the Zuvo 10-D, Zuvo 12HD-D and Zuvo 18HD-D speech generating devices (SGD).  This session will continue on to cover a variety of vocabulary sets specific to case studies introduced.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Participants will demonstrate an understanding on use of at least 3 devices by hardware.
  2. Participants will identify 3 unique features of each device.
  3. Participants will demonstrate knowledge on basic programming, customizing, and vocabulary sets of at least 3 devices.
