AAC – Beyond the Bookbag: Building Communication Opportunities Across the School Day

Description:

This 60-minute session is designed for educators and related service providers who support students who use AAC. Participants will explore foundational AAC concepts, including common myths and the evidence supporting AAC use. The session will highlight strategies for creating meaningful communication opportunities throughout the school day using aided language stimulation and consistent modeling. Attendees will also be introduced to the Super Core vocabulary system within Grid and learn how it supports communication, language development, literacy, and participation across school routines. A live demonstration will include navigation of Super Core and basic editing features to support individualized student needs.

Learning Outcomes:

Learners will understand the role of AAC in supporting communication, language development, and participation throughout the school day.

Learners will be able to demonstrate basic navigation and customization skills within the Super Core vocabulary system in Grid.
