Non-traditional (Contingent) Employment Practices Among People with Physical Disabilities
Date/Location:
December 3, 2025
Description:
This webinar will provide a comprehensive introduction to environmental control assistive technologies, which provide individuals with physical disabilities with greater access to appliances and electronics. These tools can play a critical role in overall independence and securing and maintaining employment.
This session will explore a range of environmental control assistive technologies that empower individuals with disabilities to interact with and manage their surroundings more independently. Participants will learn about tools such as smart home devices, switch-accessible controls, voice-activated systems, and infrared control units. Examples of users who rely on these tools in daily life will also be highlighted. By the end of the session, participants will have a clearer understanding of how environmental controls can support autonomy, safety, and participation, particularly in workplace settings.
