What Does the Research Say About the Use of Virtual Reality by Students with Disabilities?
Date/Location:
February 9, 2023
Description:
Interest in Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Extended Reality (XR) has been increasing as a result of many new technical developments in the marketplace. However, what does the research tell us about the use of AR/VR/XR by students with disabilities? The purpose of this webinar is to provide an accessible introduction to the research concerning AR/VR/XR and students with disabilities. It is expected that participants will be able to use the information for their own professional development and advocacy for the adoption of emerging technologies, as appropriate, for the students they work with. Emphasis will be placed on the practical application of research evidence (rather than the statistical analysis and interpretation).
Speakers:
Dave Edyburn
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will distinguish between different forms of AR/VR/XR.
Participants will describe how to locate AR/VR/XR products (e.g., vendors, hardware, software).
Participants will recognize differences in the quality of evidence produced by different research studies and explain why a study may have more/less quality.
Participants will summarize strategies they could use for acquiring AR/VR/XR technologies and conducting research in their school.
