The Magic of Connection: Using Multimedia Resources and Tools to Connect with Others and Inspire Communication
Date/Location:
On Demand
Description:
In the journey of supporting individuals who use AAC, one of the most powerful tools we have is the ability to create connection—connection that motivates, empowers, and inspires communication. In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world, multimedia tools offer a unique opportunity to spark that magic. For some children and individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities, learning to communicate using AAC can be challenging. This session explores how the thoughtful use of free multimedia resources can help foster the kinds of joyful, engaging experiences that lead to meaningful communication breakthroughs. Participants will gain practical ideas for designing experiences that promote spontaneous and independent communication, while keeping learners actively engaged. The session will include demonstrations using Minspeak symbols from the LAMP Words for Life vocabulary system, but all tools and strategies will be easily adaptable to support any AAC system or symbol set.
