Teaching children with physical and/or learning disabilities requires many modifications and accommodations to ensure appropriate access and foster academic success.  In its 10th year, the TAAT Conference has annually offered high-quality, informative professional development for educators, administrators, therapists, and AT specialists serving students with special needs. Sessions are categorized by strand to address a range of AT applications, including cognitive/learning disabilities, accessibility of physical environment, adapting academic instruction, AAC and visually supported interventions, general AT access, and more.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Understand and describe the importance of using AT supports for students with special needs.
  2. Modify academic instruction and related materials to incorporate visual strategies and supports for students with physical and/or learning disabilities.
  3. Locate multiple resources on the web to support academic instruction for these students.
  4. Identify tools and strategies that can be used to increase access to the environment and maximize independence in the classroom.
  5. Identify a variety of Apps that can be used to provide accessibility, enable communication, enhance academic instruction, and support social skills training, behavior management, etc., for students with special needs.
  6. Identify a variety of general assistive technologies that can be used to enhance academic instruction.


This activity is offered for up to 1.0 CEUs (10.0 hours of instruction). To register for CEUs:
