Teaching AAC Vocabulary using the Icon Family Approach
Date/Location:
December 2, 2020, Webinar
Description:
This webinar outlines a process for teaching vocabulary that uses semantic mapping, a teaching approach that builds meaning-based connections between words. A specific protocol will be described which can be replicated by families and educational teams. Teaching by “Icon Family” is an instructional approach that is specifically effective when teaching Minspeak® application programs such as the UNITY® and LAMP® Words for Life programs. The protocol taught in this webinar is applicable to other Minspeak application programs, such as Core Scanner, UNIDAD, Quasselkiste 60 (German) and Wortstrategie (German).
