Strategies for Successful AAC Outcomes

Description:

It takes a village to support an individual with complex communication needs who uses AAC. The focus of this one-day seminar will be on strategies and supports that facilitate successful AAC outcomes including communication partner training, descriptive teaching, and materials to support language growth.  Realize Language will be demonstrated as a way to monitor progress.  Participants will have the opportunity to converse with an adult who uses AAC.

Learning Outcomes:

Identify the steps in providing communication partner training to stakeholders.

Describe how to engage in classroom interactions without programming curriculum vocabulary into the device.

Describe how to target learning across Bloom’s taxonomy for early language learners.

Identify 2 tools that can be used to support language growth for individuals who use AAC.
