2016 ICAN Talk AAC Summer Camp Training

Description:
A 1.5 days intensive training for volunteer speech-language pathologists (SLP) and graduate student SLPs participating in the annual ICAN Talk AAC Summer Camp for non-verbal children who rely on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.

Learning Outcomes:
- Identify 1 benefit and 1 disadvantage for each AAC system of the following AAC manufacturers: Tobii Dynavox, Speak For Yourself, PRC, Proloquo2Go.
- Identify one AAC system that supports data logging or language activity monitoring.
- List the three AAC language representation methods.
- Identify 1 therapeutic strategy to use to elicit a response from a child using an AAC system functioning within Language Transition I.
- Identify 1 therapeutic strategy to use to elicit a response from a child using an AAC system functioning within Language Transition II.
- Identify 1 therapeutic strategy to use to elicit a response from a child using an AAC system functioning within Language Transition III.
CEUs
This activity is offered for up to 0.9 CEUs (9.0 hours of instruction). To register for CEUs:
