Employment and People with Physical Disabilities: Introducing the ACCESS-PD RRTC

According to the U.S. Census, about 41.5 million American adults have a physical disability, but these individuals are only half as likely to be employed compared to individuals without disabilities. The new Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Accommodations, Employment Supports and Success for People with Physical Disabilities (ACCESS-PD RRTC) is studying the employment experiences of people with physical disabilities such as spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, arthritis, or low back pain. Find out what we are learning so far about how accommodation use, the flexibility of contingent employment, and public policy are impacting employment outcomes for this population. We will discuss the new center, and resources that we are developing to help employees, employers, and service providers.
