Development of Workplace Accommodation Tools

January 29, 2020 Orlando, FL

When faced with a workplace accommodation problem, would you like to be able to learn how others have solved it? Are you frustrated when you see a “solution” that an employer or employee made on their own that is not working well because it was chosen without adequate information? We are developing Work ACCESS, a new online tool and app to help people, particularly employers and employees with disabilities, make informed accommodation decisions. We would like your input on what features to include, what assessment questions need to be asked, what solutions should be prioritized for different scenarios, and how to make all of this easy to use.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this session, participants will be able to list three (3) work task completion/performance problems that an employee with a disability might have related to computer access, communication, or workstation setup, and list 3 potential solutions for each of these problems.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to describe three (3) factors that should be considered when choosing one potential workplace accommodation over another.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to identify three (3) features or design specifications that should be included when developing an accommodation tool for employers and employees with disabilities.
