Customizing Minspeak Systems to Meet Individual Needs

Date/Location:

March 31, 2022

Description:

People with complex communication needs often also have complex bodies, which may make it difficult to use a speech-generating device optimally right out of the box.  For individuals using Minspeak® systems in an Accent device, changing some of the features can increase an individual’s success.  Additionally, there are several strategies for customizing the vocabulary that can also result in improved access and use.  This webinar will focus on identifying features within the software that can be adapted to facilitate success as well as offer creative suggestions for modifying the current layout of UNITY to facilitate better outcomes.

Speakers:

Deborah Witkowski, MA, CCC-SLP

Gail Van Tatenhove, PA, MS, CCC-SLP

Learning Outcomes:

Identify factors that support successful use of a Minspeak® system.

Discuss features within the Accent device that can be customized for individual needs.

Describe 3 ways to modify UNITY.
