AI to Advance Special Education Series: AI to Support AT Consideration and Training

August 3, 2026

Description:

The landscape of Assistive Technology (AT) is rapidly evolving, yet the foundational challenge remains: how can teams effectively consider Assistive Technology in a manner that’s efficient given staff shortages and demands of the field. Once the proper tools are identified for students, training the student’s team on the tools is another time consuming part of implementing AT. The traditional SETT (Student, Environments, Tasks, and Tools) Framework remains the gold standard for AT consideration, but the process of gathering data, synthesizing information, and providing high-quality staff training is often time-consuming and resource-intensive. This webinar explores how cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools—specifically NotebookLM and Gemini Gems—can be leveraged to streamline the SETT process and personalize AT professional development.

Speakers:

Amanda Peters

Learning Outcomes:

Identify artificial intelligence tools that they can use to help themselves and other staff more efficiently and accurately consider assistive technology.

Learn to apply a focused evaluation framework to evaluate which AI tools best serve their specific instructional contexts.
