AAC Simplified: An Overview of Speech Generating Devices, Vocabulary Files & Implementation

Description:

This 60 minute course is intended to be a demonstration and discussion of a variety of AAC devices, vocabulary files, and implementation training. The session involves a demonstration and discussion of the software and hardware features of several devices including the Nova Chat 5, 7 & 10, Wego 7A & 10A, and Zuvo 12 and 18 speech generating devices (SGD).  This session will continue on to cover a variety of vocabulary files specific to case studies introduced and is a follow-up session to one given in October of 2015 to focus on a more in-depth understanding of the vocabulary files on each device.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Participants will demonstrate an understanding on use of at least 3 devices by hardware.
  2. Participants will identify different types of vocabulary files and be able to make comparisons between at least three devices.
  3. Participants will demonstrate knowledge of basic programming, customizing and vocabulary files on at least 3 devices.
  4. Participants will understand how to implement communication goals across multiple environments and with multiple communication partners.

 

CEUs

This activity is offered for up to 0.1 CEUs (1.0 hour of instruction). To register for CEUs:
