AAC Intervention: An Overview of Dedicated Speech Generating Devices and Access Methods

Description:
This 60-minute course is intended to be a demonstration and discussion of a variety of AAC devices and access methods. The session involves a demonstration and discussion of the software and hardware features of several devices including the Wego 5A,13A, Talk Pad Wego 8 and 10, Zuvo 12 and 16, and Grid Pad Go 10 and Grid Pad 13 speech generating devices (SGD). This session will continue on to cover a variety of vocabulary files and access methods including touch, switch scanning, head tracking, and eye tracking. The session will then move to a discussion of the different types of device trials and the funding process before concluding with a question-and-answer session.

Learning Outcomes:
Participants will demonstrate an understanding on use of at least 3 devices by hardware.
Participants will identify 3 unique features of each device.
Participants will demonstrate knowledge on basic programming, customizing and vocabulary files of at least 3 devices.
Participant will demonstrate knowledge of at least 3 methods for accessing devices
