2021 Closing the Gap Virtual Conference – Assistive Technology in Special Education, Rehabilitation and Everyday Living

Description:

The Closing The Gap Virtual Conference is an event for anyone interested in finding practical and readily available assistive technology solutions for ALL disabilities, mild to significant, infant through adult. Closing The Gap preconference workshops (Monday and Tuesday) provide in-depth professional skills necessary to successfully implement assistive technology in the lives of persons with disabilities. The Closing The Gap Virtual Conference (October 11 – Decmber 31) includes an on-demand keynote, one-hour and multiple-hour live virtual and on-demand sessions and a virtual exhibit hall with demonstrations that describe and/or demonstrate successful applications of assistive technology for persons with disabilities.

Learning Outcomes:

Identify assistive technology hardware/software/apps available and companies they are available from. 

Identify AT products that best meet the needs of their students/clients.

Demonstrate and train co-workers in the use of these AT products and strategies.

Explain why they have identified particular AT products for their students/clients and how the student/client will use and/or benefit from the product(s).

Apply best practices for the implementation of AT.

Organize a multi-disciplinary assistive technology team.
